Make the everyday reset easier

  1. Choose a few named groups such as pens, clips and tape instead of one mixed tray.
  2. Remove things that belong in another room and give new arrivals a small review space.
  3. Keep original instructions or identifiers with items that need them.

Check the usable space

  • Measure the longest everyday item and the usable drawer height.
  • Try a shallow bin where small pieces otherwise disappear beneath larger ones.

Keep it looking put together

Leave a little visible base around the bins; a drawer that is easy to scan looks more intentional.

Avoid: Using this general layout for loose blades, medicines or other items needing dedicated storage.
